This paper examines the effect of edible green spaces and urban farming on neighborhood residential property values under the Taipei Garden City Program in Taiwan. Using administrative data on real estate transaction prices in Taipei City and data on urban farming sites established through the Taipei Garden City Program, we find an association between the opening of urban farming sites and an average unit price increase of neighborhood properties by 0.7%. Our findings are consistent with our expectations and previous studies’ findings, although they are not strong enough to reach the threshold of statistical significance. We discuss the implications of our results and offer a few explanations for our findings. This study aims to contribute to the literature on nature-based solutions (NbS) and sustainable urban development and provide insight into ongoing debates around edible green spaces in urban ecosystems.en
