| Abstract: | Environmental problems are becoming more critical to all stakeholders and companies each year. Additionally, the importance of semiconductors is increasing year by year. Moreover, CO2 emissions at semiconductor manufacturing plants are on the rise. Therefore, this study aims to clarify the global level of climate action between the Japanese government and Tokyo Electron (TEL), a semiconductor manufacturing equipment company, and how they can improve their climate change countermeasures. To achieve this goal, I first compared how focused industry leaders are on environmental policy, and I selected the best companies. Next, exploratory research was performed to determine whether the company’s performance was due to the benefits of the country’s environmental policies or its own policy efforts. This study’s findings reveal some potential improvements that TEL and the Japanese government could implement. The study focused on the climate action of one company and one country, but efforts to address environmental issues are exerted at a global scale. In that sense, this exploratory research is important for understanding the type of technology currently available and the items that should be prioritized to reduce CO2 more effectively. |
