dc.description.abstract於 1987 年初次發現臺灣養殖牛蛙罹患黃色桿菌症以來,每年本症皆發生,目前已蔓延到全省各地的蛙類養殖場,造成養殖牛蛙及虎皮蛙的大量死亡。本研究從全省各地的蛙類養殖場之病蛙或蝌蚪,分離出 117 株病原菌,經 137 項生化形質的測試分析,這 117 株菌呈現均一的反應,其主要特徵為:好氣性,革蘭氏陰性,不具鞭毛亦無菌毛(pili),無運動性,也無滑走性運動,β溶血性之桿菌,其核酸之 G+C 值為 33.62一35.56 mole %。此菌與Flavobacterium 屬已知種的區別,是具有β溶血性,能生長在Simmon’s citrate agar 上,且能利用 citrate。
藥物感受性試驗,在測試的 20 種抗生素中,此菌對多數常用治療革蘭氏陰性桿菌的抗生素具有抗藥性,僅對 Oxolinic acid ,Nalidixic acid, Erythromycin 及Oleandomycin 等四種具有感受性。人工感染8種動物,此菌對泥鰍、白鰻、吳郭魚及小白鼠等無致病能力,而對牛蛙,虎皮蛙,澤蛙及貢德氏赤蛙等四種赤蛙屬的蛙類有很強致死能力。組織病理觀察到此菌對蛙的心、肝、腎、脾、眼等器官造成各種病變。血清學的特徵也呈現均一反應,顯然有相同的抗原,具有診斷價值。
由以上所得資料,其與現有Flavobacterium屬之已知種均不相同,擬另定為一新種:Flavobacterium ranacida
