台灣基督長老教會《聖詩》2009版的誕生

Abstract

本研究探討台灣基督長老教會2009年版《聖詩》在30年編纂過程中所完成的任務與面臨的挑戰，並藉由編排內容的分析，討論該本詩歌集在普世合一運動影響下所呈現的特色及其中值得借鏡之處。 本文先按照該版聖詩主編駱維道所提出的四個歷史分期（1980-1985、1985-1998、1997-2002、2002-2009），梳理各版聖詩在編輯理念與新舊曲目收錄原則上的異同，發現各版雖皆追求本土化、多元化、現代化的目標，但相異處在於1964版的曲目保留比例與「阿們」的存廢爭議。本文並歸納其面臨的挑戰，亦即缺乏質量兼具的台語詩詞、一致性的台語漢字書寫法、與合適的打譜軟體。 本文進一步就曲目來源、目錄、索引、附錄、歌曲資訊、語言使用、記譜型式等面向，分析2009版聖詩受普世合一運動影響所呈現的多元化、本土化、普世化、現代化風貌，及其他實用性特色，並透過與國內外出版之詩歌集作比較，探討其編輯上的特色，包括以信仰告白編輯而成的目錄架構、分類細緻的詩詞主題索引和國別索引、新舊曲目對照、貼近現代生活的禱詞詩文與插圖、引導演唱和伴奏的樂譜記號及曲風解說。 本文最後簡單觸及2009版聖詩出版後的後續工作、推廣狀況與市場反應。其中正面反應包括對其編輯理念、詩詞創作、編排方式的肯定，負面反應則是對其中諸多新作法的難以適應，或對編輯理念的質疑。

This thesis investigates the tasks accomplished and the challenges faced during the 30-year compilation of Sèng-si, the 2009 edition of Taiwan Presbyterian Church Hymnal (hereafter the Hymnal). It also examines the content and the editorial principles of the Hymnal in order to show how its characteristics reflect the influence of the Ecumenical Movement and provide models to be emulated by future editions. This thesis first compares the similarities and differences of the four editions of hymnals from 1980 to 2009 in terms of their editorial ideas and their principles of collecting new and old pieces in the repertoire. It finds that although all four editions aspired to achieve diversification, indigenization, and modernization, they differed in the retention ratio of the hymns from the 1964 edition and the controversy over singing Amen. Further, they shared the challenges caused by the lack of Taiwanese poetry, the lack of the uniformity of Han characters, and the difficulty to find the right notation software. This thesis further analyzes various aspects of the Hymnal such as table of contents, indexes, appendixes, languages, and the transcription and notation system in order to understand how they realize Ecumenical Movement’s ideals of diversification, indigenization, ecumenism, and modernization. It further compares the Hymnal with those published by other denominations and finds that it exhibits many special features. Most importantly, its table of content was based on the confession of faith, it has detailed topic index and country index for the origins of hymns, the subjects of their lyrics were much more diversified, and the prayers, poems and line drawings were closer to modern life. Finally, this thesis briefly examines the promotion and reception of the Hymnal. While some churches and Christians responded positively to its editorial concepts, poetry creation, and compilation styles, others found the many new features of the Hymnal difficult to accept and also questioned the editorial principles.
