zh_TW
This research examines the social relational networks embedded in the environment during the process of local small-scale natural resource governance. To discuss the impacts and effects of social relations on environmental conservation, this study uses a network perspective derived from social-ecological systems studies. Using an indigenous village, Tongmen village, as a case study, this research aims to reveal social issues embedded within natural resources governance through a network perspective, and to analyze the relationships between patterns of social networks, efficacy of resource management, and local resilience building through an integrated social-ecological viewpoint. For a deeper narrative in the context of social relations and power structure, this study uses qualitative interviews and on-site observation as the main methods to collect data. In addition, questionnaires were used to collect quantitative data, including interviewees’ attributes, environmental perception and thoughts, and social network. The findings indicate that social networks act both as a facilitator and as an obstruction, and will further impact on the natural resources. Understanding the social relational network context of the community will help governors to fix the social problems of the local natural resources management project. This study suggests that more consideration should be given to the social relations before and during the process of local resources governance project, and before making policy decisions to make sure that the social conditions is health and will lead to a truly sustainable future, both environmentally and socially.en
