dc.description.abstract | Women's perception on the justification of domestic violence intercept the means of fighting against the prevalence of the issue. The study aimed at determining the association between education and women's perception toward domestic violence acceptance. Cross-sectional secondary data from 2014 collected through the Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey in Eswatini was used in the study. To find out if education level has an impact on women's perception on the justification of domestic violence data analysis was done using the Probit Regression. The results indicated that in the cases whereby the wife goes out without telling husband; the wife neglects children; wife argues with husband; wife sleeps with another man wife refuses to prepare him food all the three education variables: secondary; high school and tertiary had positive and statistically significant marginal effects on the probability that women do not justify domestic violence. Whilst, in the case where wife refuses intimacy with husband only secondary and high school variables had statistically significant marginal effects on the probability that women do not justify domestic violence; with the other outcome variables only having statistically significant marginal effects on the high school variable. Additionally, another analysis using the Multiple Linear Regression model was done to find out the heterogeneous effects of education on women's attitude toward domestic violence. The effect was more pronounced for women residing in rural areas, unmarried women, women aged 25 or below and for middle-income/ rich women. | en |
