| dc.description.abstract | 本文旨在探討澳洲中國學家馬克林之中國少數民研究學思歷程，從他早期的中國歷史與戲劇研究談起。本文藉由訪談法及文獻分析法，發現馬克林是在「中國」這個整體中發掘少數民族個體，具體發現有四：一為馬克林的少數民族研究與早期中國歷史與戲劇研究有所貫串，「強調歷史脈絡與社會環境對當時現況的影響」，在觀察各事件時往往引入歷史因素作為分析背景，強調社會環境的重要性；二為「將民族學與人類學的田野調查法用於多領域」，把握每次欣賞戲劇的機會，不僅研究舞台上的演出，也分析觀眾組成與當地氛圍，在少數民族部落的田野調查中，觀察生活現況，進而用於解釋「民族認同」等政治議題；三為「認為少數民族文化必須延續但不必永恆不變」，現代化不一定是不好的，只要傳統文化的精神仍然延續，便可和現代化共譜出「新文化」；四為「重視各研究者不同意見的發言權利」，在著作中盡量站在客觀角度還看待每一事件，並且合理化其他研究者的不同觀點，而非嚴加論斷批判，因為他認為每個研究者都有其背後思考脈絡可循。
除此，馬克林的中國研究一脈又體現出澳洲中國學的特色，即「不強調學科本位」，以「了解中國」為最終研究目標，並非為了驗證學科理論，以及將研究標的─中國，視為一「國協」，少數民族是「國協」中的個體組成，透露出濃厚的「國協意識」。 | zh_TW |
