dc.description.abstract | 文獻一般發現看電視跟人類行為有高度相關。 | zh_TW |
dc.description.abstract | The literature generally suggests a close relationship between television exposure and human behaviors. By using the nationwide demographic survey in India, this paper investigates the impact of television exposure on women's empowerment after the tremendous expansion of television network. To tackle the endogeneity problem, we use 'time to collect water' as instrumental variable for television exposure. We argue that the instrument captures the poorer subpopulation and the effect of television is non-linear since it contains larger impact to the women with lower socioeconomic status. The result suggests that television exposure significantly improves women's status, especially of women who are living in the lower socioeconomic strata, in India. | en |
