dc.description.abstract次微米微粒粒徑介於0.01 μm至1μm,如此細小的微粒可能深入人體呼吸系統的肺泡區域。造成急慢性健康效應,包括心血管疾病及慢性肺部疾病。本研究探討華人社會常使用的拜香,其燃燒產生的次微米微粒對肺部細胞可能造成的發炎反應。
研究設計採田口氏實驗設計法,試驗拜香種類、微粒粒徑、化學成分與微粒濃度等參數在不同組合下對A549人類肺部上皮細胞分泌出間白質 (Interleukin-8)的影響。
統計分析試驗數據指出,香種及微粒大小是影響細胞發炎程度的顯著參數。微粒愈小,A549類肺部上皮細胞發炎的程度愈嚴重 (p≦0.005)。

dc.description.abstractSubmicron particles with particle size of 0.01 – 0.1 μm would reach alveolar region causing health effect including cardiovalular and lung diseases. The particles from burning incense with size of 0.08μm – 0.04μm supposedly would have cytotoxicity on respiratory system. The inflammatory response of A-549 cell-line to particles treated with different experiemental trials was observed. The experimental trials, designed by the Taguchi’s method, involve the parameters of brands of incense, particle size, time of heating particles as surrogate of chemicals embedded on particles, and concentration of particles. Interleukin-8 as endpoint of cellular inflammation was analyzed by ELISA.
As results, the inflammatory response significantly associated with the brand of incense as well as the particle size. The smaller particles would cause the more sever inflammatory response of the A-549 cell-line
