摘要: | 本篇論文主要是要解決在數位無線系統及有限頻寬下,過於龐大的神經信號資料嚴重限制了傳輸通道數目的問題。雖然已有使用棘波偵測 (spike detection) 以降低資料量的方式,但所有在棘波之間的信號都會因此喪失。此外,亦有許多不理想的因素使得此方法的準確度大為降低。
本論文使用已商品化的資料壓縮演算法-MPEG Layer 3 (MP3)作為資料減量的方式,並評估其在棘波分類 (spike sorting) 上的效能。評估結果顯示,MP3保留了80%以上的單元分離 (unit isolation) 之正確性。為了減少MP3對硬體資源的消耗,本文進一步簡化MP3演算法並檢查其效能。在本論文中,所有的演算法簡化幾乎都沒有造成效能的犧牲。最後本文探討一個使用在多通道信號分析的方法-獨立成份分析法 (ICA)。模擬MP3經過最大程度的簡化後,在ICA上所造成的影響。結果顯示,不管是哪一種編碼位元率,棘波錯失率都相當地低。綜合以上所提到的結果,我們初步判定MP3可視為適用的神經信號壓縮器。 This thesis was to solve the problem that tremendous amount of data of neural signal seriously confined the number of transmission channels with a limited bandwidth in a digital telemetry system. Although a spike-detection algorithm designed for data reduction had been reported, the signal in between the spikes was lost. Moreover, various non-ideal factors greatly reduced the accuracy of spike detection. This thesis used the commercialized data-compression algorithm, MPEG Layer 3 (MP3), as our data reduction scheme and evaluated its performance on spike sorting. The evaluation results showed that MP3 kept at least 80% accuracy of unit isolation. For reducing the consumption of hardware resource by MP3, MP3 algorithm was further simplified and the corresponding performance was checked. All the algorithm simplification carried out in this thesis compromised barely discernible performance. At last this thesis discussed a method for multi-channel signal analysis, ICA. The effect of MP3 on ICA after the highest level of simplification was simulated. The results showed that the miss probabilities of MP3 were considerably low, regardless of the encoding bit rate. According to all the results mentioned above, we preliminarily validated MP3 a proper neural signal compressor. |
