dc.description.abstract本研究採用網路問卷調查法,以美國公共圖書館從事讀者諮詢顧問服務之106位館員為研究對象,藉由其對此項服務之認知,探討美國公共圖書館讀者諮詢顧問服務施行之範圍與內涵,瞭解其對讀者諮詢顧問服務的定義、功能、訓練目標等方面之看法,及其對美國公共圖書館施行讀者諮詢顧問服務所遭遇的困難與障礙,與讀者諮詢顧問服務未來發展方向之看法。研究者並歸納文獻探討與研究結果提出相關建議以供國內公共圖書館日後規劃讀者諮詢顧問服務之參考,茲將研究結果分述如下:
一、填答者所屬美國公共圖書館讀者諮詢顧問服務之範圍與內涵:1.讀者諮詢顧問服務之範圍包含小說與非小說,但偏重小說讀者諮詢顧問服務;2.讀者諮詢顧問服務之類型以直接讀者諮詢顧問服務居多,其次為間接讀者諮詢顧問服務,而線上讀者諮詢顧問服務則尚不普遍;3.讀者諮詢顧問服務施行對象以成人讀者居多,而大多數圖書館並未提供特殊族群讀者諮詢顧問服務。
二、填答館員對美國公共圖書館施行讀者諮詢顧問服務之認知:1.讀者諮詢顧問服務之定義:97.5%的填答者認為讀者諮詢顧問服務應以廣義的觀點定義為包含小說與非小說的閱讀指導服務;2.讀者諮詢顧問服務之功能:主要為增強讀者對圖書館的滿意度、有助於圖書館推廣閱讀、建立圖書館與讀者之間的良好關係等;3.館員於讀者諮詢顧問服務之宜扮演之角色:主要為引導者與朋友之角色;4.讀者諮詢顧問宜具備之條件:宜具備熱心與耐心等人格特質、協助讀者選擇閱讀素材之技巧、和藹可親與主動積極的態度等;5.讀者諮詢顧問服務訓練目標:主要為指導館員能夠自在、有技巧與無偏見地與讀者互動、提供館員瞭解讀者閱讀需求與提供閱讀建議之策略等。
三、美國公共圖書館施行讀者諮詢顧問服務之困難與挑戰及未來展望
(一)美國公共圖書館施行讀者諮詢顧問服務之困難與挑戰:1.行政支援方面:主要為主管認為所有館員皆應能夠提供本項服務、缺乏讀者諮詢顧問服務訓練、缺乏足夠人力等;2.館員方面:主要為館員需扮演多重角色、讀者諮詢晤談較標準化參考晤談難度高等;3.讀者認知方面:主要為讀者不瞭解讀者諮詢顧問服務是一項提供閱讀建議之服務、讀者認為不適合向館員詢問小說與休閒閱讀相關之問題等;4.圖書資訊學教育方面:主要為圖書資訊學相關研究所缺乏讀者諮詢顧問服務之課程。
(二)未來圖書館推行讀者諮詢顧問服務應努力之方向:主要為加強讀者諮詢顧問服務之行銷與推廣、加強讀者諮詢顧問服務在職訓練、加強對讀者閱讀需求之瞭解、確實評鑑以加強服務品質與規劃、加強與其他機構團體的合作關係、加強爭取相關經費與加強讀者諮詢顧問服務的人力資源等。
依據研究結果,研究者對本次問卷調查之填答者所服務之美國公共圖書館、未來國內規劃提供讀者諮詢顧問服務之公共圖書館、及國內圖書資訊學教育與圖書資訊學相關組織提出數項建議。
一、填答者所服務之美國公共圖書館方面:1.宜設置讀者諮詢顧問服務專責部門或由專責人員負責提供服務;2.宜與其他社區福利機構合作,提供特殊族群讀者諮詢顧問服務;3.宜加強讀者諮詢顧問服務之統計與讀者諮詢顧問服務晤談之記錄;4.宜加強讀者諮詢顧問服務之行銷;5.宜善用網際網路優勢提供讀者諮詢顧問服務;6.宜提供館員讀者諮詢顧問服務在職訓練;7.宜改變圖書資訊組織與檢索方式。
二、國內未來計畫提供讀者諮詢顧問服務之公共圖書館方面:1.宜提供館員讀者諮詢顧問服務相關專業知識與技能之在職訓練;2.圖書館組織需提供讀者諮詢顧問服務之人力資源。
三、國內圖書資訊學教育方面:1.圖書資訊學相關系所宜開設讀者諮詢顧問服務專業課程;2.宜建立適當的教師獎勵制度,提升其對讀者諮詢顧問服務領域之研究興趣。
四、國內圖書資訊學相關專業學會與組織方面:1.宜開設讀者諮詢顧問服務相關研習課程;2.宜設立讀者諮詢顧問服務委員會。
最後,研究者提出進一步研究建議以供後續研究者參考,包括:1.進行美國公共圖書館讀者諮詢顧問服務館員休閒閱讀之調查研究;2.調查國內讀者對公共圖書館讀者諮詢顧問服務之看法;3.從事行動研究以瞭解國內公共圖書館施行讀者諮詢顧問服務之可行性;4.進行不同類型圖書館提供讀者諮詢顧問服務之可行性研究等。
