| dc.description.abstract | This study seeks to better understand the major host country factors influencing the inward Japanese foreign direct investments (FDI) in the nine East Asian economies of China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand.
In this paper, the pooled data of East Asia countries are used to investigate the determinants of Japanese FDI in these countries. Cross-sectional time series modeling is employed to examine the relationship between the Japanese FDI flows and their determinants in the countries. The relationships between the host country location advantages and inward Japanese FDI were investigated using multiple log-linear regression models, and pooled time series, cross-section data, from the time period 1995 to 2006. The major host country factors examined in this study include market size, market growth, Japanese import penetration, labor cost, labor skill, infrastructure quality, economic openness, and agglomeration of existing Japanese businesses. | en |
