摘要: | 近年來網路科技的進步已使得人們的生活離不開網路。網路的功能也不再僅僅是使用在資料傳遞上,即時影音服務也越來越風行,例如:語音與視訊串流。但是,原始的網路架構設計,卻導致兩個嚴重的問題:缺乏有效的管理機制以及品質保證服務的支援。
我們的研究主要重點在設計在網路管理業者控制下的網路上進行點對點的網路控制機制,以管理即時多媒體服務的串流並將網路剩餘頻寬的使用最大化。更精確的說,當我們傳遞資料時,目前使用的方式是直接尋找最短直達路徑。但是,一旦核心網路發生擁塞狀況時,直達路徑便可能無法連通。因此,我們設計一種有效的管理機制以及路徑接力方法,將網路剩餘頻寬的使用最大化,以容納更多的服務。 The advances in network technology in recent years has made the Internet an essential part of our everyday life. Not only does the Internet provide for functionality of data communications, but also for real-time multimedia, such as voice and video streaming. As demand of real-time services increases, however, the naive design of the best-effort Internet architecture has led to some major problems: the lack of efficient traffic management mechanism and support for Quality of Service (QoS) guaranteed services. Our research concerns the design of end-to-end traffic-control mechanism over an Internet Service Provider (ISP) controlled network to manage the real-time service traffic so as to utilize the network resources more efficiently and to support guaranteed services. To be more specific, when we deliver data from the source to the destination, we currently always try to find the shortest source-destination path, and the service is granted only if the shortest path is available, that is, the minimum available bandwidth along this path should be larger than that required. However, as traffic becomes quite heavy in core networks, the direct source-destination path might suffers from congestion, and new requests will hardly be admitted. This thesis considers the design of an efficient traffic-control mechanism that can make the most of residual resources in the network to accommodate more services and can provide guaranteed services. |
