摘要: | 國內外文獻一般認為工廠排放的汙染物會危害鄰近居民健康(Parodi, 2004;詹長權, 2007),然而似乎尚無文獻探討工廠的營收問題。本文將說明直觀上惡性腫瘤(malignant neoplasm)致死人數與工廠的營收應為正相關,惟於控制相關變數後,實際若以最小平方法廻歸結果卻顯示其效果並不顯著,此處可能有遺漏變數的問題;另呈現以縱橫式資料(Panel Data)的估計方法,包括固定效果及隨機效果,並以Hausman Test檢定結果,本文選擇隨機效果模型為佳,於控制相關變數後,工廠營收對癌症死亡人數呈現正相關,且亦具有統計上顯著性。 According to the previous study that pollutions from factories would harm the health of nearby residents (Parodi, 2004, and Chan, 2007). So far it seems that no research takes consideration of the issue of factory revenues. This article will intuitively investigate that cancer (malignant neoplasm) deaths and factory revenues could be positively correlated. However, when we control the relevant variables, the empirical result of the Ordinary Least Squares regression (OLS) has shown that the effect is not statistically significant, where it may due to omitted variables problem. Other estimate with Panel Data regression analysis, including the Fixed Effect and Random Effect, and then tested by the Hausman Test, this Random Effect model is appropriate after controlling the relevant variables. Our major finding is that cancer deaths and factory’s revenues show a positive correlation and also be statistically significant. |
