The traditional textile industry is facing intense competition and increased pressure for transformation due to rapid changes in globalization and supply chain conditions. In recent years, growing demand in sportswear and smart wearables has fueled the functional textile sector and made it a key driver for industrial upgrading. This thesis studied the case of company PG&W and examined how the company leveraged functional chemical additives, fabric module integration, and an ERP digital platform to construct a demand-driven value chain and an innovative “one-stop service” supply chain business model. PG&W platform operations were analyzed using a variety of theoretical frameworks such as PESTLE, value chain analysis, the business model canvas, Porter’s Five Forces model, SWOT, and strategic matrix analysis to determine how this platform transformed the traditional role of fabric traders. Study findings revealed that PG&W’s innovative one-stop services shifted its business focus from function-oriented processes to application-oriented processes. By enabling data transparency and technical translation, the PG&W platform effectively managed supply chain bottlenecks to create differentiation and competitive advantage while enhancing downstream supplier processes. This study provides empirical insights into the transformation of the functional textile industry and confirms the benefits of digitalization strategies for the traditional textile sector. |
